Limenas is the capital and main port of Thasos. It’s the most convenient base if you want everything close—ferries, shops, tavernas, a lively evening promenade, and easy access to northern beaches and archaeological sights.

- Travelers without a car (walkable center + local transport options).
- Couples & groups who like evening strolls, dining, and a lively vibe.
- Short stays (1–3 nights) or as a base for exploring the north/east.
Getting there (ferry & arrival)
Limenas is where most ferries arrive. If you’re coming from the mainland, you’ll typically land right in town—meaning you can be at your accommodation quickly. In summer, arrival and parking can be busy near the port, so plan a little buffer time.
Beaches in & near Limenas
Limenas has small town beaches and several excellent options a short drive away. For the best water and scenery, many visitors combine Limenas evenings with beach time at nearby northern/eastern beaches.
